Luci Light Review [A Waterproof, Solar Powered, Portable Lantern]

Luci Light Review

Whether you are bunker-ed in or bugging out, the Luci Light is an optimal lighting source in numerous situations. A multi-functional, compressible lantern that provides more then adequate lighting, the Luci Light is one supply item to not overlook. With so many aspects of this outdoor lantern being survival oriented, it was only right to talk about it here on Survival Junkies.

For starters, this is one of the lightest lamps available, weighing in at only 4 ounces. Batteries alone for other lamps could weigh that much or even more. Definitely something to think about in a bug out situation where, like I always say, EVERY OUNCE COUNTS. The Luci Light is also compressible, down to 1 inch thick, which makes ideal for storing in your home when space is limited and perfect for your bug out bag.

On top of being one of the lightest lamps, and I mean light, lighter then a deck of playing cards, the Luci Light has 10 fairly powerful LED’s that produce around 65 lumens which can provide about 15 feet of light. There are four modes (at least for the Luci Light Outdoor); low, bright, super bright, and a strobe light at 1 second intervals which can be very useful in emergency situations.

The Luci Light is completely solar powered and charges in about 7 hours of sunlight. It can provide light for about 18 hours on low setting, 6 hours 30 minutes on bright setting, and 3 hours on super bright.

Now being skeptical about how well the light would hold its charge, I tested the first Luci Light that I purchased (a Luci Light Outdoor model). I charged it for a day, and then stuck it in one of my drawers and almost forgot about it for 8 months till one day I completely lost power in my home, then I remembered the lantern. So I pulled the light out, and put it on the bright setting. Amazingly, this little powerhouse of a lantern stayed on for more then 6 and a half hours.

The Luci Light also has two straps; an adjustable bottom strap and a stationary top strap that can clip to a tree, a tent, or even the outside of your bug out bag. On top of all that, the Luci Light is waterproof up to one meter, and only costs around $20.00. Affordable and portable? Works for me!

Honestly, the Luci Light is a staple for any prepper or pretty much anyone who is an outdoor enthusiast. I personally have two of the Luci Light Outdoor lanterns tucked away in one of my drawers, as well as the new Luci Light Outdoor 2.0 attached to my bug out bag.
